Meet the Advisory Board

Ellie Singer is an assistant debate coach at the Blake School, where she also attended high school as a debater. In high school, she debated in Public Forum for Blake and Worlds Schools with Team USA. In college, Ellie is the 2020 President of the Yale Debate Association and the Vice President of Operations for the American Parliamentary Debate Association. As an APDA Board member, she is serving her second year as the board liaison for the Equal Opportunity Facilitators Committee. Outside of debate, Ellie is a co-director for Engender, an organization founded at Yale to advocate for equity and inclusion in all social spaces. Ellie is so excited to work with Beyond Resolved!

Michelle uses she/her/hers pronouns and graduated from East Ridge High School in Woodbury, MN. During her high school career she competed in both extemporaneous speaking and Public Forum (along with a little bit of Congress and World Schools) and served as a team captain as well as a middle school coach. Currently, she attends the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and is studying neuroscience and public health. She joined Beyond Resolved as a way of staying involved in the debate community and to help in the effort to advocate for underrepresented groups and to make debate more accessible and inclusive.

Becky is a writing and speech professor at Southern New Hampshire University, Rock Valley College, and Blackhawk Technical College. She also serves as the Director of Novice Debate for Fort Atkinson High School and was named NSDA New Coach of the Year for the Southern Wisconsin District in 2019. Becky became involved in debate in 2013 when she began dating her now husband (a diamond NSDA coach) and knew the only way she’d get to see him on weekends is if she learned how to judge and coach debate - she’s developed a great love for both the sport and the man. As a neurodiverse person, she has a passion for making debate, speech, and education accessible and equitable for all students.

Kelly is third-year at the University of Chicago studying economics and political science. After competing in public forum for four years in high school, she now coaches Potomac Debate Academy and Fairmont Prep. Kelly is super excited to work with the cabinet this year to make debate a safer, more accessible, and more inclusive space this year!
