Wealth and Class Initiative
The wealth and class initiative aims to address, educate, and create a safe space for debaters in regard to issues of wealth and class. The problem of wealth and class exists in every corner of debate, which makes it all the more important.
What do we do?

Chelsea Hernandez (she/her)
Chelsea is a senior at Charles W. Flanagan High school in Pembroke Pines, FL. She competes in Public Forum debate.

"I'm a senior from a really small school in Houston and I learned to debate all on my own, so I want to do everything possible to make debate accessible to those who aren't as fortunate as me. Outside of debate, I like baking and running. My banana bread is the best thing on the planet. I'm super excited for some of the projects Chelsea and I have planned :)"

MUST:
Attend a public/charter school or a private on scholarship/financial aid
Should:
Attend a school with underfunded speech/debate programs, have personal barriers to competing in the activity, or primarily participate in a UDL
Should:
Actively participate or promote projects of either BR or other organizations that garner access to debate for financially disadvantaged competitors (i.e. clothing drives, free mentoring/coaching)
Must not:
Have any record of unsafe or harmful track records in and out of the debate space (including but not limited to sexual assault/harassment allegations, all the -isms and -phobias)
